Inspired by Ishtar Gate, the eighth gate to the inner city of Babylon. The bricks were glazed in blue to mimic Lapis Lazuli, a much revered gemstone in antiquities. The gate was constructed around 575 BCE by the order of King Nebuchadnezzar II. When I visited the reconstructed Ishtar Gate at Pergamon Museum in Berlin in 2016, I was in awe by the sheet size of the gate. Stood at 50 feet high, the blue walls were decorated with animals and deities in low relief at intervals.
